INFORMATION AND HISTORY OF
THE INDEPENDENT CHURCH OF GOD 7th Day
What was God thinking when He made man? Common sense would tell us that up to the point of the physical creation, He had a very peaceful existence. John 1:1-2 says: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God." For an eternity, that's all that had ever been, just two Beings of Godly character that loved the same things and got along perfectly. They had no limitations; there is nothing in this understanding that tells us that they suffered for eternity in any way. Life was good!
Why change that? If they had needed something, anything at all, wouldn't they have created it? Why wait an eternity before creating man? Unless you have fallen into the trap of "letting someone else do your thinking for you", and have accepted some form of the willingly ignorant, well funded, faithless, scientifically challenged, satanic, God-hating, evolutionary theories indicative of an idolatrous society, then you must have on some level questioned why man is here.
God's people think for themselves. God has given every man that right, yet so many have chosen to believe a lie. God's people are faithful truth seekers that cannot live in a created world and deny its existence. They have proven God to be true and every carnal man a liar. Since it is true that God made man, and man has rejected God, we see the need to provide a witness to this society and preach the Gospel according to God's Word. God in His wonderful compassion and mercy has called some people out of this society and He commands them to be Holy like He is.
I first came into contact with God's people through my grandparents in the 1960's in California. My family began attending services in 1974 and we kept our first Feast of Tabernacles in 1975. My wife and I were married and baptized in 1978. We remained a faithful and loyal part of the WCG until the Feast of Tabernacles in 1987, when we realized the Church was apostatizing from foundational truths. We counseled with our minister but did not believe he was being truthful, because when we presented him facts of the change he adamantly asserted that no changes were taking place. We then sought other counsel to find the truth about what Joe Tkach Sr. was changing. This resulted in us temporarily attending another Sabbath keeping group. Sadly, it was not easy to find people that really wanted to serve God. We were officially put out of the WCG on January 3rd, 1988. We met with several small groups and even were alone for awhile. Our current congregations began meeting as a small, home-based fellowship group in September of 1999 and has grown to become the Independent Church of God 7th Day.
Tim Hall and I have determined to teach God's truth to the world and we take this responsibility very seriously. We believe that God's ministers should lead and direct by example and should be willing and able servants.
The Independent Church of God 7th day now has two Sabbath keeping congregations meeting each Saturday. Weekly Sabbath services are located in Yellville, AR and in Harrisburg, AR. Services at both locations are at 1 p.m. each Sabbath.
God's plan to redeem sinful man is not understood very well today, even by the churches of God. We encourage you, as you listen to the sermons, and read the articles, to e-mail any questions you may have regarding our beliefs.
To answer the opening question: Why did God make man? He wanted man to give honor and praise to Him! It really is good to be King! He is a Great God and King that wants to be worshipped by His creation. Where and how you spend eternity will depend on how you worship Him now, in this life. The Scriptures do not teach that you go to heaven when you die, or burn forever in hell-fire. We can help you find the truth.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
To whom does God give his Holy Spirit?
Acts 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Spirit, which God hath given to them that obey him.
Do you know what your Creator expects of you? How well do you know the LORD?
Jer 9:23-24 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
Get to know your Creator. He is Eternal. YOUR ETERNITY DEPENDS ON IT!
